The “Leonardo 4 Children” initiative includes several non-profit and charity events, which have the purpose to:

  1. Present the awards and recognise the winners of the international Awards raising awareness on climate, equality and peace;
  2. Promote children and young music talents;
  3. Raise funds in favour of beneficiary projects to support children in need with education in art & science.

Participants: 150 teenagers aged 13-18, 10 educators from St. Paul’s School and Carano 4 Children.

20:00-21:30 Auditorium Liceu – Free classical music concert with young talents from Conservatori Liceu of Barcelona, Martina Meola (piano), Valeria Esposito (violin) accompanied by Erika Zoi (composer and pianist), Nadja Komlenic (violin), Jovanka Visekruna (piano), Marina Krasnova (soprano) dedicated to World’s Peace, recognition of the winners of Leonardo 4 Children Awards.
With the patronage of UNESCO and European Parliament and the support of AXA and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.

Charity concert of classical music by Rossini, Paganini, Vivaldi, Saint-Saens, Mascagni, Boccherini, Beethoven, featuring the top violinist Anastasiya Petryshak and young music talents: UKOM and Elite Ensemble youth orchestra (Suzuki school Varese) conducted by maestro Carlo Taffuri, soprano Olga Artemenko, soprano Anastasia Varga, children’s choir European School Brussels conducted by Pablo Garcia, Le piccole canaglie theatre group conducted by Denise Monas with original choreography by Giuliana Martinez.
Charity event whose proceeds went entirely to UNICEF to help refugee children in Europe with education and life support.

All funds will be used to support children in the oncological unit of the Hospital Valle d’Hebron.

Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci – sala delle Colonne

Charity concert of classical music organized by Il Setticlavio aps and the Carano 4 Children foundation. The UKOM Orchestra, composed of young musicians and conducted by the conductor Carlo Taffuri, will perform in the program of Serenades for strings by Dvorak and Tchaikovsky. The young musicians of the Orchestra are all students of the Suzuki school in Varese, for whom this is a very ambitious program to pay homage to the 20th anniversary of the ImmaginArte Association.

Charity event whose proceeds will go entirely to UNICEF to help Ukrainian refugee children.

WORKSHOP “Climate Action & Gender Equality”

The purpose of the event was to engage children and teenagers in interactive way on the topics of climate action and gender equality, based on the “Leonardo 4 Children” 2020 and 2021 competitions across Europe. The event was free and open to anybody, in particular children aged 6-12 and teenagers aged 13-18, as well as teachers, parents, educators, artists, scientists.

More than 250 children participated in the workshop which included the following sessions:

Interactive session “The Sky in Me” on carbon levels in your sky, by Anais Tondeur, in cooperation with European Commission Joint Research Center (please see The Sky in Me workshop guidelines)
A climate-action workshop based on Carbon Black artistic protocol. In a shared breathing performance, you are invited to turn your attention towards your sky. As a collective or individual participant, you will then be guided to photograph a fragment of the sky above you, and hang an anti-particulate matter filter in the space where you will spend the rest of the day so as to filter the particulate matter eventually present in the air in your environment. Participants will send their mask filter from which the carbon particles will be extracted and transformed into an ink used to print an artistic picture of your sky. Your carbon black printed pictures as well as the creative process will be publicly exhibited.

Interactive session on climate and art “Quiz on Climate Action in the Love Labyrith” by Marina Calamai, Florence (please see the presentation of the session)
Designed for all ages, players will navigate through 63 spots on the Laurel Love Labyrinth with life-size dice and gain the opportunity to learn about the measures that can be taken in order to reduce global warming and achieve a greener planet. Each spot will have either a positive or negative impact upon the climate, and offer ways in which to resolve such challenges. The ultimate goal of the game is to raise awareness about sustainability, clean living and a greener planet.

In this interactive session, teenagers and children will learn how everyone of us can affect the health of the environment and how small changes to what individuals eat, wear and buy can influence the environment in positive ways. The participants will be invited to provide their own perspective on behavioural changes.

AWARD CEREMONY “Leonardo 4 Children 2021”

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the winners of the “Leonardo 4 Children 2021: Climate Action & Gender Equality” Awards and to promote young music talents, in particular young composers. 

More than 200 children and teenagers, accompanied by teachers and parents, participated in the award ceremony.
