Winner nr 3: “Calmness II”

Topic: Peace

Source of inspiration: projecting Peace in the compostion, staying in the present moment for a while, enjoying the Peace in today’s fast time, listening to the melody, harmonies and color of both instruments. The composition can have a meditative impression, which is not harmful at all.

Summary

The award allowed young music composers to use and develop their creativity and artistic skills, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, to interpret in music in a proactive way the following topics of global relevance: climate change and environmental sustainability, equality including gender and social equality, and peace.

They could as an option take as source of inspiration a fable by Leonardo da Vinci or an original work by children and teenagers who won one of the previous editions of Leonardo4Children.

Jury

The Members of “Leonardo 4 Music” Juries are professional composers and musicians, with international and multicultural experience and special sensibility for children and charity activities.
The Jury for the competition included the following members: Anastasiya Petryshak, Carmine Padula, Stefano Cucci, Ayumi Nabata, Erika Zoi, Gisella Cosi, Jovanka Visekruna, who with great enthusiasm and competence have carefully assessed the participating works and scored them on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Inspiration on the selected topic of climate, equality and/or peace;
  • Creativity and originality;
  • Quality of music melody;
  • Quality of vocal and choral elements;
  • Alignment of the work with the selected fable or winning work (optional).
AWARDS

The 1st winning composer receives the opportunity to use her/his music composition for a promotional video of UNICEF Belgium, and the 2nd winner for the promotional video of Leonardo 4 Children initiative.

The 3 works with the best scoring receives the following awards:

  • talent development programme, with a budget of € 500 (1st winner) or € 300 (2nd winner in memory of “Ermanno Testi” music composers, and 3rd winner) for each winning work, which can be used for developing the music skills of winners, for example via workshops, visits or material;
  • publication on “Leonardo 4 Children” book;
  • presentation at workshop and award ceremony; promotion on website, social media and promotional material, at public events, institutions or public places including famous museums, and during concerts and events;
  • “Leonardo 4 Children” award certificate.
